Community Design/Build Collaborative with Richard Kroeker + Dalhousie University’s CEU
KSN Pow-wow Arbour
Location: Kinistin Saulteaux Nation/SK/Canada
Working as design and project lead, Brad led this intensive two-week community design/build that brought together elders and members from the Kinistin Saulteaux Nation to collaborate with architecture students and Faculty on the design and construction of a 120 foot diameter pow-wow arbour.
Key to the success of the project was the collaboration with Richard Kroeker and Faculty from Dalhousie University’s School of Architecture and Planning. Inspired by local craft and traditional building techniques, the lightweight tensile structural system was refined through community input and on-site/hands-on mock-ups, testing and building.
